Dr. John B. Edmunds, Jr. Distinguished Lecture Series Welcomes General Colin Powell




University of South Carolina Upstate is proud to announce General Colin Powell will be the guest speaker for the 7th Annual Dr. John B. Edmunds, Jr. Distinguished Lecture Series at 7:00 p.m. in Room 319 in the Hodge Center on March 19, 2020. Gen. There is a limited number of complimentary tickets available to USC Upstate students. If you are interested in claiming a ticket for this speech visit Room 107 in the Hodge and have your student ID with you. This event is open to the general public at a cost of $25 with no assigned seating. All tickets are general admission.


General Powell is a retired four-star U.S. Army General and American statesman. He served as the 65th United States Secretary of State (2001-2005) under President George W. Bush. Prior to this role, he was the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff for both President George H.W. Bush and President Bill Clinton. Powell was the first, and so far only, African American to serve on the Joint Chief of Staff as well as being the first to be appointed to the position of United States Secretary of State. He was the national security advisor for President Ronald Reagan.
