Welcome back, Spartans!

Here’s what you need to know for fall semester

Avery Beaton | Assistant Editor, The Carolinian

With September rapidly approaching, this time of year is when students of all ages go back to school.

Here at USC Upstate, you might have noticed some changes with the class schedule. Are you a returning student and confused? Or it’s your first semester and you don’t know where to start. Either way, here is an overview of the new class schedule and other valuable information.

In spring 2024, the school announced they would be doing away with Friday classes, much to student and faculty delight. Classes are now split into Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday periods. They will run for an hour and fifteen minutes, with fifteen minutes in between classes to get to your next one, which is needed with our current parking situation.

Important dates:

  • September 2nd: Labor Day Holiday, there will be no classes.

  • October 10th-16th: Academic advising opens for Spring/Summer 2025

  • October 17th-18th: Fall break, there will be no classes.

All this information and more can be found on USC Upstate’s academic calendar on the website.

Whether you’re a senior graduating this semester, or a freshman new to Upstate, best of luck with your classes and keep a look out for more news.
