On Nov. 15, the Spartans traveled to Greenville, NC and upset the East Carolina Pirates in a thrilling game.

The Spartans, who went into the game as 12.5-point underdogs and historically have never beaten the Pirates, defeated both of those odds. However, Upstate, who with each game has improved in every shooting category, had the edge on Eastern Carolina University.

ECU, who coming into the game was 2-0, struggled mightily at the free throw line as they went 19-31 for 61.3%, as opposed to the 16-19 for 84.2% that the Spartans able to achieve.
