Voting Red to Keep America Great

President Donald Trump on the campaign trail

Editors Note: Upstate Students were asked about their opinions on the election. These stories were written before Election Day, November 3rd.

The whole nation watched in disbelief during the first presidential debate. I will admit that my jaw was also on the ground during it. It was not a good representation of being a president.

The second debate was exactly how I wanted the first one to go. President Donald Trump carried himself with class and facts. He was very composed and showed exactly what he has done and will do for our country. He gave Joe Biden just enough rope to hang himself, and that is what happened.

Issues covered in the debate were climate change, the Coronavirus, health care, immigration, criminal and racial justice. Right before the debate information about Hunter Biden, Joe Biden’s son, came out verifying his illegal activity with foreign countries, according to a report by the New York Post. That “big guy,” Joe Biden’s code name in the emails reported by the Post, was profiting off the deals.

Trump brought all the illegal affairs that Biden said were at the hands of Russia, which is what many Democrats pointed to when Trump won in 2016.

“You know who I am, you know who he is,” said Biden in the final debate. “You know his character you know my character. You know our reputations of honor telling the truth. I am anxious to have this race. I am anxious to see this take place. The character of the country is on the ballot, look at us closely,” said Biden. That was Biden’s exact quote. Watching him stumble over his words constantly through the debate made me question why Biden is running when he is not all the way there.

Biden’s honor and truth were on full display at the final debate when he lied about fracking, saying he never opposed it. He told Trump, who said it was on video of Biden saying he is against it, to put it on his website. The day after this debate Trump posted a video of his receipts, proving that the character of Biden and his ticket is untrustworthy. That they will say whatever they want to say to get in office.

"He's a very confused guy,” said Biden of Trump. “He thinks he's running against someone else. He's running against Joe Biden. I beat all those other people because I disagreed with them," said Biden. This is coming from the man that thought Trump was Abraham Lincoln.

“Abraham Lincoln here is one of the most racist presidents we’ve had in modern history,” Biden said. This statement was inaccurate on every level. As Trump stated during the debate, (Biden) has helped the black community more than the Obama administration ever did, by funding black colleges and even changing a bill that Joe Biden put in place while Vice President, which put more African Americans behind bars for minor charges.

“He said we have to help our small businesses. By raising the minimum wage, that's not helping. I think it should be a state option,” said Trump. “I completely agree that the minimum wage should not be higher across the board because it will not help our economy.

“Joe, I ran because of you. I ran because of Barack Obama. Because you did a poor job,” Trump said. “If I thought you did a good job, I would have never run.”

I believe that the Trump administration is doing a way better job than the Obama administration. Trump has been in office for almost four years and he has done more than Biden has done in 47 years of public service. All Biden has done is make himself rich by participating in treason, and he wants to say he represents the American people with truth and honesty.

My vote went for the candidate that is making our country great, and I believe if he gets reelected, he will continue to do that, instead of making our country turn socialist.
