USWNT wins fourth World Cup

United States Women’s National Team (USWNT) wins fourth straight World Cup in dominant fashion. With a goal scored by captain Megan Rapinoe the team went ahead 1-0 in the 61st minute against the Netherlands. Rose Lavelle extended the lead to 2-0 with her goal 8 minutes later. With the Lavelle goal the USWNT set a new goal record for the World Cup by scoring 26 goals in 12 matches during the tournament. Rapinoe earned the Golden Boot Award, which is given to the top goal scorer in the tournament. She also earned the Golden Ball for being the top player in the tournament as well. What a way to celebrate her 34th birthday which was two days ago.
